is marriage overrated in todays society ? is being single really better ?

in todays modern world marriage seems to be the last thing on ppls minds. No one wants to be attached, but yet some folks would rather have their cake and eat it too! some ppl marry just to have sex without being judged, some ppl get married for financial gain or stability. Then, u have the folks that say theyll never get married its overrated because they say marriage changes ppl. When in actuality that person was always that way. Im standing on the single side certain examples of marriage have ruined it for me in a sense but u CANT BASE YOUR HAPPINESS ON SOMEONE ELSES LIFE.
