Tonight’s show is called, “Is ADHD A Misnomer?

The pathology currently known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or ADHD, has undergone myriad redefinitions and renamings since its codification around the 1950s in the DSM-I. But, it may be possible that psychology still has work to do in tweaking the diagnosis and complete understanding of this condition.

There are traits known by clinicians and psychologists to be valid aspects of the disorder, that are largely unknown outside professional circles, and the disorder’s name reflects this incomplete understanding. We want to talk about the history of the professional understanding of the disorder, how it is seen today, and some known gaps in that understanding which need addressing and inclusion, for the benefit of those with the pathology.

On Tonight’s Show We Will Discuss:

  1. The History of ADHD: Naming, Diagnoses, and Treatments
  2. Symptoms and Currently Used Diagnoses

We'll start off the evening with some topic-relevant Classic Rock played by Dr. Mathis, followed by Classic Rock trivia in "The Rock & Roll Shrink Recalls," followed by our topic discussion.

Please follow our bi-weekly, Wednesday evening shows, at 11 pm EST/EDT. We will have Part 2 of tonight's topic for you in two weeks!
