In the old days before Europeans came to the Americas, when the Indigenous peoples ruled the continent – what were the table manners like for tribes in the Pacific Northwest? Today on the NativeTalk.net radio podcast, we discuss what mealtimes were like back then. We also read some listener mail from folks who responded to last week’s show on a Native woman in Canada banned from her religious smudging practices. You can listen to the discussion by downloading the audio file.

In the second segment, with the Superbowl right around the corner we discover how tribal members feel about the ‘taking a knee’ controversy in the NFL. What we found, is they support protests but not taking a knee during the national anthem. In fact, many Tribal Nations have their own national anthems, called ‘Flag Songs’. We hope you enjoy listening to the show, and feel free to comment or let us know what you think! We’ll be back next week with more stimulating Native Talk Radio, with all our past shows always available at NativeTalk.net
