Today on the NativeTalk.net radio program, we have a special one hour show discussing some of the history of the Pacific Northwest Tribes. Specifically, on their way of life including why they were considered by other tribes to be wealthy, how they gathered food, living arrangements, and their form of currency and trade. To help us discuss, as a first grade sudent himself 6 year old Puyallup tribal member Jason joins to learn things about his tribe he (and maybe you) never knew before.

One of the most important aspects of tribal life in the Puget Sound region, was the potlatch. We talk in detail about what it meant, how it was prepared, and some of the reasons a potlatch might be held. Finally, we finish with the legend of "How Raven Stole Crow's Potlatch" which is a fantastic story that you will all enjoy.

In all, it is one of the most informative and entertaining hour of radio you've heard all year. We're off for the holidays next week, which means our next radio program will be broadcast on Sunday January 7th. (which is why it's an hour long instead of our usual 30 minutes).

Enjoy the show, and we'll see you next year for more stimulating Native Talk Radio, with all our shows available for direct download at NativeTalk.net. Have a great holiday season.
