"Only he who feeds on me has Eternal Life, and I will raise him up on the Last Day." --Jesus

The Gospel of John Chapter 6 is about as clear as it gets from Jesus. He says we have to eat his body and drink his blood to be saved. Many bible churches either do not have this chapter in their bibles (as in they don't tell anyone it's there), or they explain it away as a very confused metaphor.

But Jesus said it, we believe it, and that settles it.

Or does it? Does it settle it for you?

Join Kristina Rake, M.A. (theology) and candidate for the Old Catholic Priesthood for part one of our exploration of the grounds for what's called, The Real Presence: the belief, held by Catholics, that the Eucharist IS the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, of Jesus Christ. Literally, truly, and without question.

In Part I, we'll examine our first 2 questions: Is it Biblical? and Is it Historical? (has the church taught it since the Apostles) Next week, we'll look at Part II: Is it Theological? and Is is True?

If you have ever had even a passing interest in Catholicism or wondered why your faith teaches the Real Presence, then this episode is required listening. You simply cannot be Catholic without believing in the Eucharist as the Body and Blood. The Eucharist is, as Aquinas called it, "the source and summit of our faith." We are saved by what occurs on that altar, and every altar around the world every single day.
