The Last Airbender--that’s the anime ‘Avatar,’ kids!—is in theatres and bookstores this week!

The Last Airbender, the film adaptation of the hugely successful Nickelodeon series ”Avatar: The Last Airbender,” brings the story of Aang to the silver screen under the direction of critically-acclaimed M. Night Shyamalan. Aang must fulfill his destiny and use his mastery of the four elements to stop the power-hungry Fire Nation and the determined Prince Zuko.

The Last Airbender: Prequel: Zuko’s Story, a Del Rey original trade paperback, brings the reader into the world of the prince of the firebenders, immediately before Aang’s journey begins. A never-before-told story, the graphic novel follows Prince Zuko’s path as he sets out to prove himself by embarking on the ultimate quest. The graphic novel provides a lush background story for the movie.

Dave Roman was associate editor of Nickelodeon Magazine. The co-creator of the series Jax Epoch and the Quicken Forbidden and Teen Boat, he also pens his own webcomic, Astronaut Elementary. Roman, based in New York, is also the creator of the comic Agnes Quill, and he co-wrote X-Men: Misfits with his wife, Raina Telgemeier.

Alison Wilgus is a writer and artist who has worked on projects for Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon Magazine, and more. She is based in New York and is currently working on Chronin, her first graphic novel.
