In a recent Research Intelligence Group survey, about 30 percent of U.S. consumers said they’d leave their banks over fees for using their debit cards.  Mesquite, Texas resident and small business owner Mark Riskind is but one consumer who actually did leave his bank that held his accounts for more than 30 years. “I just got fed up with the fees and poor service,” said Riskind.  The last draw for Riskind was when his bank charged him $100 for a transaction Riskind said could not possibly have taken more than 10 minutes to complete.  “It is theft; arrogance,” he said.

Riskind will join several other consumers who’ve recently made the switch from a bank to a credit union in sharing their stories with Texas Credit Union League (TCUL) Your Money, Your Matters Blog Talk radio listeners Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. central daylight savings time.

Your Money. Your Matters is a weekly show broadcasting every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to noon Central Time. The program features radio personalities Rick Grady and Linda Webb-Manon, Texas Credit Union League; Todd Mark, Consumer Credit Counseling Services, and Courtney Nickles, Texas Credit Union Foundation. Each month, the four discuss financial issues of most importance to consumers.
