Ola Jackson is an accomplished business woman of 25 years who inspires me as I travel this journey of entrepreneurship. Ola is the founder of OWN (Onyx Woman Network) and NEW (Nurturing Evolving Women). She has earned numerous accolades including the 2012 Pittsburgh Black Media Federation Legacy Award, 2010 SBA Business Champion Award, Robert Morris Alumni of the year, 2009 Pittsburgh Courier Woman of Influence, 2006 National Society of Collegiate Scholars Award, 2003 The New Pittsburgh Courier Women of Influence Award and the 2002 Pittsburgh Women in Business Woman of Distinction Award.

But perhaps what inspires me even more than her business savvy is her journey as a mother.

Ola’s son was diagnosed with autisim at the age of 4 and during a time when the condition was rarely publicized, and resources weren’t as bountiful or accessible as they are today. Launching her own business allowed Ola to dedicate more time to meet his ever-changing needs. Please take a listen to my mom talk with this incredible woman!
