Sean Higgins, a man responsible for outing the Memphis VA Hospital more than 50 times for sub-standard treatment of patients and ongoing waste and other abuses at that facility, returns this evening to update us on the recent Inspector General report on why the Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection, is failing as intended.

The report states:  "The OAWP has the authority to investigate all allegations of misconduct and poor performance involving Covered Executives or VA Policy Makers. This would include allegations that do not qualify as whistleblower disclosures. The Act defines a whistleblower disclosure as any disclosure of information by an employee of the Department or individual applying to become an employee of the Department which the employee or individual reasonably believes evidences—(A) a violation of a law, rule, or regulation; or (B) gross mismanagement, a gross waste of funds, an abuse of authority, or a substantial and specific danger to public health or safety."

Even after all of the verified whistleblower complaints became public knowledge, the VA has done virtually nothing to bring the Memphis VA Hospital up to an acceptable level of operating standards.
