Today on What's Right About Men - Gender role socialization and the impacts they have on our lives

Join as as we will be discussing gender roles with researcher Laura Burns.

The gender role journey metaphor provides a context for individuals to analyze how gender role socialization has impacted their lives. How have gender roles impacted your life?  How have they impacted those around you?  How do gender roles impact us all without us even being aware of them?

Laura Burns is a 4th year graduate student at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology currently pursuing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. Her research background started out as working as an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Dr.Patricia Devine’s lab studying prejudice and intergroup relations. Since starting graduate school, the focus of her research projects has been on gender identity development in children and young adults and also on helping families of gender variant or transgender children. The title of her dissertation (a work in progress) is “The impact of emerging adulthood life events on men’s gender role journey.”
