Bah Humbug: Merry Shop Until You Drop

Black Friday is an American tradition and the official start of the Holiday Season.  The American shop until you drop phenomena is now encroaching more and more into Thanksgiving, a holiday that has always symbolizes with time spent with family and friends.  22 million American retail workers had to work on Thanksgiving Day forgoing a turkey dinner, family time and the opportunity to reflect on what they are thankful for. Christmas, held as a religious holiday, has redefined the term Christianity.  Conspicuous consumption has become the new Christianity.  How does the religious right play into this new age of buy, buy and buy?
