In a nation where 20% of the population receives SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), the homeless, the poor, the hungry seem to be the poster children of what is wrong with this country.  Corporations like McDonalds and Walmart refuse to provide a living wage to their employees yet profit immensely.  Big box retailers are opening on Thanksgiving Day, extending their hours from year to year, denying their employees the opportunity of celebrating the holiday with their families.  We have made the poor and the homeless the target of politicians, the first to experience the harsh cuts to social welfare programs, while 6 individuals  (the descedents of Walmart mogul, Sam Walton) have as much wealth as the bottom one-third of all Americans combined.

As Thanksgiving approaches, join Fred and Mark on Lies My Country Told Me, "Public Enemy # 1: The Poor" on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 2:00 pm EST, (1:00 pm Central, 12:00 pm Mountail, 11:00 am Pacific and 3:00 pm Atlantic).  Join us in the chatroom or call in with your opinion at (347) 677-1814.
