One rainly night, a missionary in El Salvador saw a young boy selling newspapers. The hour was almost midnight, but the boy could not leave until he sold all his papers. The missionary bought the boy's last papers so he could go home and sleep before starting the next day.
Moved with pity, the missionary reurned to his home. He wanted to give the boy the chance of his life, not just another day. After prayer, the missionary began planning and raising funds for Latin America Child Care, a school system designed to give children a way out of poverty.Today, it operates in twenty-one countries and reaches more than one hundred thousand children.
The missionary knew that salvation is not just about souls, but about renewed hope. He recognized that Christians are to respond with mercy to injustices of the oppressed.
