Gifts of the Spirit

In last week's study we looked at how the Holy Spirit bears His fruit in our lives to develop Christlike character. In today's study we will look at how the Holy Spirit gives believers spiritual gifts so they are able to serve God and others. Spiritual gifts are generally manifested in two ways. One is when the spirit gives supernatural abilities to believers to minister God's grace to others. the other is when the Spirit calls and enables believers to serve various functions, such as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, so believers will be built up and the kingdom of God is advanced. Just as we desire the fruit of the Spirit to be produced in our lives, we are to desire the gifts of the Spirit to be manifested through us. As we yield to the Spirit, He will enable us to serve God and others.
