For many people, freedom is casting off restraint. It is not having anyone telling them what they can or cannot do. They don;t have to answer to anyone. Peter instructed believers to live as if they were free (1 Peter 2:16). But they were not to use their God-given freedom as an excuse for doing wrong. Instead, they were to submit, honor and serve. For believers, freedom is giving up individual rights for the sake of service to others. What Peter knew and wanted believers to understand is that from God's viewpoint, submitting, honoring, or serving are not signs of servitude. They are evidences of true freedom.
