God's Response to Unfaithfulness

Adultery is a devastating sin of betrayal. It often leads to divorce, an act of finality that represents the end of a marriage that once started with great hope but ends in great pain. The dissolution of a marriage for infidelity is the picture used to describe the exile of Israel as God symbolically "divorced" the Northern Kingdom. Unfortunately, Judah, the Southern Kingdom, followed Israel's adulterous behavior and put her relationship with God at risk. Despite infidelity, God promised to heal Judah if she would return to Him. This is a promise He offers people today.
