ESPN's Calvin Watkins Joins Us. We'll Talk ESPY's; Tim Duncan & More!

It has been quite a week for this country with shootings and violence claiming lives and sparking protests. The tension is thick, the tone at times deafening and the need for leadership never more prevalent. We’ve seen and heard President Obama and former President Bush deliver calming, poignant messages over the past few days. Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James opened the ESPY’s with a message and call to action for their peers. Another reminder how sports and society are entwined and offer a unique opportunity to build community.

On this week’s show you’ll hear what that quartet of superstars had to say. I’d also like to hear your thoughts about not only their message, but that they used their platform to speak to something so important.

There has been a lot of sports news as well. Tim Duncan quietly announced his retirement from the Spurs and the NBA after 19 impressive seasons. ESPN.com’s Calvin Watkins joins us to talk about Duncan’s legacy, James Harden’s new contract and the Rockets summer moves.
