    Indie Books #77 (Nicholas Duncan)

    in Books

Tune in and join me as I welcome this week's guest.

Author Nicholas Duncan joins me this week to talk about his book: Tales From A Muzungu

Imagine you are on a plane to a destination you know very little about. On top of that, you don't know anyone else, will be living there for two years, only have a vague idea of what you will be doing, or if it was the right decision. A major comfort is knowing that you aren't the only person having anxiety during this scenario. This is just the beginning of a Peace Corps volunteer’s service. Tales from a Muzungu is about a Peace Corps Volunteer’s two year experience (2010 – 2012) in Uganda. Nicholas Duncan covers the highs and lows of life in Africa by detailing the atmosphere of Uganda and the day to day life of a volunteer. Nicholas writes about his experience with non-profits, adjusting to deep village life, and the surprises of being a muzungu in Africa.

1st Sunday Superstars - Tim Hurst

    in Motivation

Changing Minds Online Presents...1st Sunday Superstars!
These are people that changed their lives around for the better and became true inspirations!

The 1st Sunday Superstar for May is Tim Hurst, Karate Teacher and Marathon Runner.  Tim was very active as a young man. He was an avid bicyclist, runner and all around sports enthusiast. His dream was to one day teach karate at my own studio and run the Boston marathon. At age 21 while riding his motorcycle to college early one morning in May of 1981 he was struck head on by a garbage truck that turned in front of him on the highway. He had broken almost every bone in my body and was in the hospital for a year before he was released. A year after being released from the hospital he made the conscious decision to have it amputated from mid calf down. After waiting the time he needed to heal, Tim became very active again.

Unable to run with the mostly wooden prosthetic leg he had started riding bikes, lifting weights and teaching karate again. He has taught hundreds of students over the years and still continue to teach karate to this day but he still secretly dreamed of one day running the Boston Marathon. As the years passed and technology caught up, he was able to obtain one of the new "running blades". With this blade he has ran 43 marathons total in 38 different states, including the Boston and New York Marathons. He is now on a quest to run 50 marathons in 50 states. We are excited to have him share his story with us Sunday, 5/3 at 9pm EST / 8pm CST. Call in at (949) 203-4763 and hear this wonderful story. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/changingmindsonline/2015/05/04/1st-sunday-superstars--tim-hurst

Telling It Like It Is with Tim Castleman

    in Entrepreneur

This week's show brought to you by the book Hardcore [c]Loser my latest release.  It's a book about the crazy life I've lived and the lessons learned from it. You can grab your copy here http://bitly.com/1K9TxeB

My guest this week is fellow friend and fellow Texan, Tim Caslteman.  Tim is a kick ass, digital entrepreneur who'll shoot you straight, just like me.  It must be a Texas thing! This week we are going to talk about the industry, the future of IM and why writing books is a skill few have, but many want.

I've been connected to Tim on facebook for years now.  I originally was introduces to him because I clicked an affiliate link and wound up on his list. When I was a rookie marketer, his emails pissed me off.  I'd unsubscribe then resubscribe.  *sidenote: that must be how people feel about me now.

Funny how in the end, the bold, truthful, aggressive style of writing Tim uses, attracts exactly the type of entrepreneur he's looking for.  Hence why I always resubscribed.  Now, he's turned his writing skill into a badass biz.  He's the ONLY guy who can sell notes on events (permission wise any way) His up front honestly got him that gig, I would imagine.

This is one of those shows you'll probably listen to more than once.  I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
