ON THE RULE OF LAW IN MODERN AMERICA: Is the Rule of Law DOA in USA? Our illustrious forebears were totally convinced that the universe ran off of timeless principles which they called Natural Law, Natural Rights. From this they built the concept of the Rule of Law, or as Samuel Rutherford said it -- Lex Rex -- Law is King.

But today, there is great confusion today over what governs human, legal and political behavior. But without the Rule of Law, mankind has no direction in society.

As James Madison wrote: “If men were angels, no government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.” James Madison, Federalist Paper No. 51 (1788)
