KELLY O'CONNELL AM 1450: Cruz Marries the Pooch

Under the gathering sky of the 2016 presidential election, certain charges are transpiring. First, both parties are down to one candidate -- Clinton and Trump. Second, Cruz has entered into a manic stage in his race where the panicky politico has fumbled into another terrible choice -- Carlina Fiorina for his VP. What? How can someone in ICU get married? The decision to bring Fiorino on board is even worse than  his brief decision with Kasich to split the remaining states.

The fact Cruz could get no candidate with any delegate heft show how unpopular he is. That he would choose a minor figure whose only claim to fame is losing the CA Sen race and running HP into the ground shows he lacks good decision making skills. Finally, his shotgun marriage with the GOP elites reveals he can’t make good strategic decisions under pressure.

In the meantime, Trump continues to make his transition into the general election. He has toned down his rhetoric and is now firing away at Clinton. And remarkably, the man who cannot beat Hilldabeast now finds himself pulling even on a national stage. Ceteris paribus -- with everything else being equal, this pundit is calling for a Trump Tromp over Swillery.

Can Trump really win? Only the future and God know….but from this perspective, he’s looking golden, Sportsfans.
