KELLY O'CONNELL AM 1450: Super Doomsday

In the leadup to the third Super Tuesday,  Ohio/FL style, the GOP is now facing its own Day of Reckoning. Having demagogued the candidates, especially Trump, and then having thrown the issues overboard, the grassroots Republicans are stuck somewhere in the triangle between confusion, mourning and rage. The People have lost their party. The party itself has imploded and shards of the supposed 2016 conservative platform fill the air as the only topic -- Killing Trump -- fills the fevered minds and reddened eyes of the GOP Elite.

Yet, It does not appear Trump is going to be blotted out. And what is really amazing is that the attacks, on gigantic scale, are being continually wheeled out like one medieval war device after another. So when the catapult proves ineffective, and the crossbow fails, they move onto laying black incantations, releasing of spies, the public confessions of former conspirators, and last, but most hotly chanted -- prayer. And yet he shrugs it all off like an elephant ignoring a bb gun.

As Trump moves to secure the nomination, the GOP has a terrifying set of choices. First, they can embrace the Donald and swallow any misgivings, while riding out the journey. Second,they can forgive Cruz and all his hateful past and pretend he’s newly certified GOP centrist. Or third , they can cast their fate to the wind and go for the famed brokered and contested  convention, hoping blind chaos gives birth to a leader of great vision and a subsequent prez victory. Not very good choices, huh?!! The GOP is left with the disaster of their own making, like Doctor Moreau looking at his island of misfit candidates.

And now, as the clock ticks down we will have our moment of revelation where it all becomes clear. Who will arise to evolve out of this astonishing maelstrom? Stay tuned, sportsfans...
