On the Wednesday, November 23rd broadcast we will chat with UCSD Moores Cancer Center board certified radiation oncologist Catheryn Yashar, MD.
Dr. Yashar's clinical and research focus has centered on breast and gynecologic cancers, especially intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and brachytherapy techniques. Her surgical training can be invaluable for surgical issues, brachytherapy systems, implantation, and clinical correlation of imaging. Her clinical interest is in the field of women's health care.
As the breast radiation oncologist, Dr. Yashar led UCSD as the second institution in the nation to use the 'SAVI' (strut assisted volume implant) breast brachytherapy device for accelerated partial breast radiation.
