Do you think texting is better than a phone call? (communication)

Some generations were more social.  They did not have all of the gadgets that are out now.  My generation had the land line phone Atari, record, concerts,bikes, get togethers and the malls were available for us to hang out.  We walked, talked, hung out, went out to eat and still talked with our parents.  Now kids are fat use facetime and can not hold or start a conversation.  What are your thoughts?
