What Is A Blended Family? A blended family is where a child from a previous relationship is included in the family created by a new marriage. Yes, it only takes one child from one parent to be a blended family. Of course, as you add more children from different previous relationships, the complexity increases dramatically. According to this evening's guest Dr. Jackie Black, step families are now defined as one partner having a child or children and the other not having any children. Blended families are now defined as both partners having one or more children and “blending” their families of procreation with one another’s. There are many complexities and challenges with both family constellations. The interesting thing is that the intact mother, father, child/children constellation no longer represents the majority of families in the US anymore. So what are the problems associated with this shifting familiar landscape. We will talk about it tonight on the PI Window on Business.
