In 2005, The Human Capital Institute released a paper titled "The Impact of Sarbanes-Oxley on the Contingent Workforce." At the time, the paper stressed that SOX "presents a significant problem for any business due to the expertise and level of detail required to meet compliance." The paper went on to state that the response for most organizations was to "turn to a contingent workforce," that offered the "needed expertise and resources" to manage compliance thereby enabling the company to "avoid disrupting the regular flow of work." However, and according to industry reports, issues such as co-employment or rebadging (re outsourcing) has created its "own set of concerns" relative to SOX compliance as well as other aspects of managing the contingent workforce acquisition process. This includes the fact that an organization's responsibility relative to compliance extends beyond itself to include its suppliers. Joining me to discuss recent developments in the world of contingent workforce engagement is Jeff Nugent from CWS Solutions. Jeff is an authority on contract workforce strategies and is a much sought after speaker and consultant to many fortune 1000 companies.
