My organization is one of a new emerging sector in the global economy: the union of a for-profit business with social benefit -- a "double bottom line". Yet despite the previous comment, it is VERY difficult to get funding... For-profits smirk because of our double-bottom line; not-for-profits are horrified by our commercial motives; Social VCs won't consider lending unless the market is $20 million or more; foundations won't give grants to businesses. Sigh.
