John Allin welcomes Dave Wedge to tonight's broadcast, Wedge is a 20-year veteran journalist, author and award-winning former Boston Herald reporter.

A Boston College graduate, Wedge was a top news and political reporter for the Herald for 14 years. He left the paper in November to complete his first book, “Boston Strong,” with best-selling author Casey Sherman. The book is due in November via University Press of New England and a TV mini-series based on it is in development by the team behind the Academy Award-winning film “The Fighter.”

At the Herald, Wedge covered a variety of local and national news and political stories, including reporting from Ground Zero on Sept. 11, 2001, the 2000 Edgewater Technology office massacre, the 2003 Rhode Island nightclub fire and the 2004 and 2008 presidential races. He served as the Herald's bureau chief at both the State House and City Hall and covered the administrations of former Gov. Mitt Romney, Gov. Deval Patrick and former Mayor Thomas M. Menino, as well as the 2013 mayoral campaign won by Mayor Martin J. Walsh.

In the days and months after the Boston Marathon attacks, Wedge has been a go-to journalist for media across the globe covering the story, giving in-depth interviews and providing expert analysis for major radio and TV networks.

In March, he joined Boston political strategy/communications firm Northwind Strategies as a vice-president.
