Lady D is a singer, songwriter,actress, director and playwright. She is West Virginia's "First Lady of Soul." She is a West Virginia native and graduate of West Virginia State University with a bachelor's degree in Communications. Among her accomplishments are her cds, "Nobody's Bizness," "My Turn" and "Go Higher." "Nobody's Bizness" was released in 2003. It is the musical soundtrack from her one-woman stage play, "The Lady and the Empress," which she wrote and performs. The play is based on the life and music of blues legend, Bessie Smith and features 10 songs originally recorded by Smith in the 20's and 30's.
