As we move further in time, statistics of unmarried women and men are on the rise.  According to the US Census 2016, there were 109 million single/unmarried people, age 18 and older in 2015.  This group made up 45 percent of all U.S. residents 18 and older.  53 percent were women and 47 percent were men.  

Are these stats commensurate to a matter of choice?  Or, do these numbers reflect a lack of viable choices for mates to form lasting relationships or marriage?
