Sometimes when I'm walking alone, along that bloody path through life, it is great to have masonry walking with me. Life is not the culmination of a well thought out plan.  There is nothing wrong with that. Oh I have an approximation in mind.  Being happy. Having enough to pay the bills and bringing some comforts to the people I love.   Just when I get ahead of myself and start to plan- that is when the Grand Geometrician laughs at me out loud. I'm reminded that science is discovery. It is as certain as predictable as the next breakthrough in our understanding.  If you understand yourself, or know and can admit that, then you are one of the fortunate few.  And walking with you along that path, stumbling over the odd tree root, hopefully stepping into the marsh hopeful for a firm footing, the likes of me has the companionship of masonry. To put doubt into perspective, there is the geometry of Pythagoras and a pneumonic that mention of his name prompts> silence. Still the mind. Still the mouth.  It is a secret dialogue, known only to the student mason. Threadbare suited. Undereducated. Tradesman. Professional. Philosopher or artist.  To listen is to learn. What is the moment that catches our ear? To inspire. To feel excited and renewed day by day.  It is unnecessary translations of thought and mood that bring misery. It is masonic training that allows a fellow to learn how to achieve the centre.
