There is a charge in freemasonry that tells us what we should see when we are near a real freemason. It starts something like" Such is the nature of our..." Brethren will know how it flows from here.
Whenever I hear it done well, it leaves me with a feeling that it is speaking about someone else. To achieve the qualities described in the narrative is daunting- so much to do to approximate the ideal mason.
It takes a certain cynicism to dismiss it, but frankly, it does happen now doesn't it!
