Award Winning Author of "Locavesting" Amy Cortese

Amy Cortese, award winning author of Locavesting will be joining me on the Gain Mindshare Business Hour Wednesday morning. If you have not read Amy's book, and you have concern for the small business community in our country. It is a must read.

Simply put, Amy was able to articulate the issues surrounding small businesses that are not talked about in popular circles and publications. Once the US election was over, small businesses ceased to be the topic of conversation. Our attention began to shift back to what makes good television, Wall Street.

What's interesting about what Amy was able to put together, was that she was able to touch on a key issue which is financing, She explains the dilemma that most small businesses have come to accept, although they may or may not know the backdrop for why things are the way they are.

The fact that many small businesses have accepted that they are not going to be able to attain a commercial loan to either smooth over their cash flow or to buy new equipment.   This belies what is truly happening in the small business marketplace. The lack of capital at its core, is the result of the structure of securities laws that disallow normal people to make investments in the businesses that they see every day .

One of the things that I will be exploring with Amy on the call are the alternative sources of financing that are now available to savvy small business owners.  For those that are willing to take the risk, they can beadequately capitalized yet still held accountable by those who actually do the investing.
