Discouraged about the level of discourse? Constant political strife, bad news, and tensions with family and friends creating stress? Karen and Kathy discuss what led them to start Open Peaceful Heart and why they believe continuing to reach out in love, accepting each other's failings, and offering community-centered meditation is the most effective way to create lasting change.

Kathy Henry is a marketing consultant, copywriter and active volunteer in community organizations, including her Unitarian Universalist church, hospice, and her local hospital's parenting program. She is also active politically as the Education Chair of the League of Women Voters-Oakland Area and has spoken on statewide voting rights proposals. Kathy has two teenage sons and is past president and current legislative liaison at the high school PTA. She's passionate about educational equity and enjoys engaging with people in person and online about today's challenging issues.
