If there is one thing the world know about Kansas City - it's the BBQ! To many out side the metro area, and around the world, Kansas City is synonomous with great "Q". Names like Gates, Bryant's, Oklahoma Joe's, Johnny's, LC's, Woodyard - and of course, the championship event for the only sanction barbeque competitions on Earth, the annual American Royal World Series of Barbeque. Over 700 teams serve up the best slow-smoked meats in the world, in an effort to be called "American Royal Champion".

A great case could be made that all this recognition was brought about by the creation of the Kansas City Barbeque Society - the official sanctioning body for competition barbeque events, world-wide.

Today is a special day for us, to have one of the founding fathers of competition barbeque, co-author of the rules for judges, and author of nine books on barbeque - Mr. Ardie Davis (known on the circuit as "Remus Powers, Ph.B."), as well as two men who are making the definitive film documentary of Kansas City's unique place in the pantheon of BBQ - Kevin Fossland and Martin Diggs.

You don't want to miss this one!
