Youth economic empowerment

The youth of most African traditional societies are there to serve the interests of their elders. Put differently, the wealth and positions of authority belong to the elders as long as they are alive. This probably explains why most African leaders are almost 23 years senior to leaders of the developed region. Where does this leave the youth? Kambidima chats to Peter Sinkamba the founder and Executive Director of Citizens for a Better Environment (CBE), a developmental non-governmental organisation founded in 1998. We discuss Peter’s model of an economic empowerment that address the plight of the Zambian youth. Peter holds a Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) Degree in Sustainable Development Planning and Management obtained from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. He is currently pursuing Doctoral studies in the same field at the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) in the same country.
