Gender Journeys with Special Guest Thomi Clinton

Today our Special Guest is Thomi Clinton ~ Director of the Transgender Communtiy Coalition in Palm Springs, CA. Thomi is truly an amazing woman and we are excited that she will be joining us live so that you can ask her questions from the phone lines or the chat room. 

The Transgender Community in the Inland Empire began coming to her with serious social and human rights issues. She decided to come forward, proactively, when one of the Transgender women attempted suicide. In the past two years she has become the center of visibility for the Transgender Community and has worked hard to make Transgender and Intersex individuals in her community safer by helping them to be treated with dignity and respect. She has aggressively beaten the statistics that keep Transgender people from equality in the above mentioned areas of life.

A few of her recent accomplishments ~       

• Creating a Transgender Health Treatment Center with Borrego Health Foundation for low or no income Transgender and Intersex people to acquire health services that are unique to them.
• Assisted or directly trained Police and Sheriff Departments on appropriate Transgender interactions within the Coachella Valley.
• Trains staff at homeless shelters to be Transgender inclusive.
• Works closely with local community Transgender people to help find housing and employment
