Joseph Moscona is a 14 yr old special needs child who is, loving, caring, and wonderful. He has been suffering for over a year from a headache that will not go away and numerous other physical symptoms that cannot be diagnosed. He almost died from anaphylaxis (shock) and the doctors cannot explain why. His pain varies from moderate to severe but never goes away. Joseph has been unable to attend school or participate in the sports that he loves and in most other activities that kids his age would be involved in, due to the degree of his pain. He is limited to go outside for any length of time due to his sensitivity to light and sound. Joseph loves playing baseball and but due to his illness he is restricted. He has been hospitalized several times with no relief. He has gained almost 100lbs in a year because of inactivity and the medications he was prescribed. . He is becoming extremely depressed over his situation. This condition is taking a serious toll on his quality of life. As a mother it is a horrible feeling knowing there is nothing that you can do to relieve your child’s pain The doctors at New Orleans Children’s Hospital have exhausted their resources in trying to find a reason for Joseph’s headache. We have also consulted other Doctors in the area to no avail. They have now referred him to The Mayo Clinic or Chicago’s Diamond Headache Clinic. Neither Clinic excepts our insurance and the cost exceeds anything I can afford. Joseph is in desperate need of more medical attention, so I am seeking donations to assist with his medical care and expenses to make the trip to one of these facilities. My finances have been depleted with this ongoing situation. I am asking you to please assist me in this task for I am a single mom and Joseph’s caretaker.
