PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: "The Christian Resurrection from the Dead (Part 4)" from Dr. Tim LaHaye

The Bible teaches that our present body is "corruptible" -- that is, it is human or natural. That is why it is possible for us to still sin after we have been born again. At salvation, God's Spirit comes into our heart so that at the time of death our soul (the eternal part of our being) and our "new nature" or "spirit" departs to be with Christ, where it remains until our resurrection-rapture. When Christ descends from heaven "with a shout," the dead in Christ will rise first and "we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds." Then we shall all "meet the Lord in the air" and be with Him forever.

Those believers who happen to be alive on earth when Christ comes in the air will also be changed in the rapture. Our bodies, like those of fellow believers before us who "are asleep in Jesus," are unfit for heaven and must be changed like Christ's body was at His resurrection. That future heavenly body will be made from the elements of our present bodies, or our former bodies, in the case of dead believers.
