A top Iranian commander says he welcomes an attack by Israel as an excuse to retaliate. According to The Blaze, a top Iranian commander said he would "welcome" an Israeli strike against his country's nuclear facilities because it would give Tehran a reason to retaliate and "get rid of" the Jewish state "forever." General Amir Ha-ji-za-deh, head of the Revolutionary Guard's air force, vowed that Iran's response to an Israeli attack would be "swift, decisive and destructive." At the same time, he called Israel's threats to strike merely a psychological move against Iran.

Egypt's president will visit Iran. According to The Associated Press, Egypt's President Mohammed Morsi will attend a summit in Iran later this month, the first such trip for an Egyptian leader since relations with Tehran deteriorated decades ago. The visit could mark a thaw between the two countries after years of enmity, especially since Egypt signed its 1979 peace treaty with Israel and Iran underwent its Islamic revolution.

The United States and S. Korea to hold war games. According to CNN, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un told his troops to be vigilant during upcoming training exercises between South Korea and the United States, saying they should be ready to lead a "sacred war." The warning followed an announcement by the United States and South Korea that their joint "Ulchi Freedom Guardian" training exercises would begin on Monday and conclude by August 31.
