From Lenny Bruce to George Carlin and all the way to Tina Fey, political humor has a storied place in our society. But for some reason--if you look closely--most of it seems to come from the left.
Our guest tonight HAS looked closely. Alison Dagnes, a professor at Shippensburg University in PA, has written an amazing analysis of just this issue. Her book, A Conservative Walks Into a Bar: The Politics of Political Humor, discusses exactly what tickles our funny bone, and why. Part entertainment and part in-depth analysis, Dagnes' book is both fascinating and informative.
Plus, we'll listen to some of YOUR jokes and see if they fit the patterns!
Presented by Coffee Party USA, "The Middle Ground" covers a variety of topics with a trans-partisan approach with an eye to finding the place where the two major political parties share that 'middle ground.' Co-hosted by award-winning filmmaker Eric Byler (center-left perspective) and political author Michael Charney (center-right perspective), the show airs every Tuesday 8 to 9:30 pm ET.
