The term 'minority opinion' or dissenting opinion is the opinion given by those who disagree with the majority in any given situation.  It's used to allow those in the minority the opportunity to present their side to the majority before a final decision has been made. It is an important practice that protects people from following the herd mentality. Unfortunately like most good things, the real use seems to have gone by the wayside and the minority opinion now rules regardless of what the majority wants.  This is an example of leadership that is driven by emotional appeal rather than logical thinking.  We'll talk about current situations where the minority opinion is making the rules rather than questionning the rules.
