In the early 1900's one man was the name in transcontinental record-setting motorcycle and automobile runs. This man crossed the wild American landscape numerous times in feats of stamina, skill, and devotion unlike any other. Imagine riding coast-to-coast aboard a 1915 Indian, or 1923 Ner-A-Car in just mere days, when there were no real paved roads. More than 100 transcontinental speed records for both autos and cars are attributed to Erwin "Cannonball" Baker.

Since 2010, a world-class racing event has taken the motorcycle world by storm. This event is the ultimate challenge of man and machine, and is a tribute to "Cannonball" Baker's record-setting cross-country trips. TheMotorcycle Cannonball is the brainchild of Lonnie Isam, Jr, and has been undertaken by a field of enthusiasts three separate times now. In 2010, motorcycles manufactured prior to 1916 crossed America from Kitty Hawk, NC to Santa Monica, CA. 2012 saw the second running of the event from Newburgh, NY to San Francisco, CA for machines built prior to 1930. Last September, pioneering enthusiasts from all over the world conquered America once again, traveling from Daytona Beach, FL to Tacoma, WA aboard machines built prior to 1937.
