This session will provide an overview of Medicaid eligibility and behavioral health (mental health and substance abuse) services paid for by Medicaid. Learning Objectives: (1)Obtain a basic understanding of Medicaid and Medicaid resources, including how to find, link or refer clients to appropriate, “medically necessary” Medicaid services; (2)Gain knowledge about APS HealthCare and the Children’s Mental Health Waiver and understand how the Waiver can assist in serving children with serious emotional disturbance (SED) in their home and community; (3)Understand the difference between a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility and a Residential Treatment Facilities, including admission criteria for PRTFs; (4) Understand the importance of discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and reduced recidivism in moving a child from a PRTF to a lower level of care; and (5) Gain knowledge of W.S. 21-13-315 and the requirements around out-of-state placements. *Presented by Eydie Trautwein and Sara Walk, Wyoming Department of Health
