CareGiverStory.com is proud to have host Rev. Dr. Mary Newbern-Williams, who will be interviewing Rev. Dr. David R. Sawyer about about flourishing churches and church leadership.

Rev. Dr. David Sawyer applies his passion and gifts to encourage congregations and church leaders to embrace change.  After 10 years teaching leadership and administration and directing the Doctor of Ministry and Lifelong Learning Programs at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, he retired to his current vocation as writer and consultant with Flourishing Church Consulting and Coaching.  Earlier he served congregations in Illinois, Ohio, and Minnesota, including two interim pastorates.  Also, he served on the staff of Giddings-Lovejoy Presbytery.  Dr. Sawyer earned his M. Div. from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and the Ph.D. in organizational communication from Ohio University.  David lives in Louisville with his wife and co-author, Rev. Dr. Deborah G. Fortel.  Together they are the grandparents of 4 amazing children ages 5 and under.

Rev. Dr. Mary Newbern-Williams is an ordained Pastor in the Presbyterian Church USA.  She serves as Presbyter for Congregational Vitality in the Presbytery of Missouri River Valley in Omaha, Nebraska.  Ordained since 1989, she has served the PCUSA on the national, synod, presbytery, and local congregational levels in several capacities.  She has three adult children and lives in the Omaha, Nebraska Area.
