Landslide with Bonfire Program 54 Desert Tortoises

In Landslide, Program 54, Bonfire and her guest Rosalind Peterson discuss the fate of the remaining Desert Tortoises who are scheduled for euthanasia at the end of 2014. Asks Bonfire, "Why can't their survival be underwritten by a little loose change from the U.S. military budget.... I mean... for instance. There are apparently only 1400 or so of them remaining, anyway.   Are these the same venerable beings who were in harm's way with the depleted uranium bomb testing of ten or so years ago at the Nevada Test Site?  I"m jus' askin'."
