The Judge Joe Brown Show (w-Valerie Denise Jones) : Pre-Election Radio Party with Van Silk, Phil Gates and Idris Vaughn-Marcellus Salaam  --- Special Appearances by TP Hearn and Friends - TODAY, 4p EST.  Rock Your Vote and Call (929) 477-1167

With November 6 quickly approaching, TODAY's GOAL is to exegete our elementary civic duties in ways that make sense.  The black vote is very crucial even though it's been said that the black vote doesn't count.  Also, black people don’t vote.  The latter is not true. The only reason the stereotype even existed:  theres a long history of the black vote being blocked. From the grandfather clause post-slavery and the literacy tests during the Jim Crow era, black people were often discouraged from voting due to backlash.

JOIN TODAY'S DISCUSSION - Together we can put myths to rest.   Vote This November: Don't Give Your Power Away.  Too many black voices are suppressed and unheard in important elections.

Another thing TO DISCUSS:  African-Americans are often assumed to vote Democrat when the Democratic Party themselves don’t focus on issues pertaining to black people.  Political scientist Paul Frymer explains - We generally think all voters have influence, but just as voters in battleground states are more heavily courted during a presidential election, he said, modern politicians have focused their efforts on moderate, disaffected whites in the middle — soccer moms and NASCAR dads.

The feeling having black issues ignored causes black people to be less likely to go to the polls and cast their vote in an election - so the goal of TODAYS SHOW is to help you choose someone who will represent your area well.
