NEGRO MUSICOLOGY: The Story of a “People” in America

Since slavery people of Afro-ancestry in America have used music as a soothing balm of relief from harsh treatment and experiences. In the face of death, oppression, family separation and more, the Negro; commonly referred to today as African Americans have survived. They found hope in their musical expressions.
