The Heptathlon, is among the most gruelling competitions against oneself in the world that comprises of seven events. The goal is to score more points than the other competitors in a test of mind and body that challenges the athletes character, attitude, determination and their physical abilities.
So how does the 6-time Canadian champ juggle athletics with motherhood?
The Calgary resident is one of the toughest competitors to represent Canada, having finished fifth at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing before earning a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. In between she took a year off to give birth to her first and only daughter, Anika.
Jessica is looking to better her 6490 score from Beijing, aiming for a personal-best score of over 6,500 points, which should be medal-contender range.
