Before we discuss the when and why of racism being socially and polically acceptable again in America, let's see if we can decide what racism is. America fully understood racism in the 50s & 60s. Whites explained it then as that's the way things are. That's the way it is supposed to be. Black people were to know and stay in their place. White people were not to voice any other opinon. Today, there is a crumped up different meant to racism. Some will say racism is being intolerate of an entire race of people. This I don't buy, the reason being if racism is being intolerant of a group of people, explain how you are being intolerant toward me and people who look like me. Being visably intolerant is to show up in decision making toward me. Being visably intolerant is behaviour that becomes part of my life and my life's choices. That word racism is applied when visably there are actions involved that harm individuals that are members of a group of people. Black people! There is another part of racism that make racism America's reality. The other part is White priviledge. If racism is intolerance for an entire group than White priviledge is acceptance of an entire group. Could a White person be racist toward his own group of other White people? If there is such a thing as White priviledge, is there also Black priviledge? Do both White priviledge and Black priviledge have the same behaviours and consequences in our society? Now, why is racism now politically and socially acceptable in America here in 2014? My answer is because the elite was once above showing racism. Since 2008 the elite put a stamp of approval on racist actions and language and those who worship the corruption of the elite took up the cause. Racist remarks are again acceptable and those not willing to partake could find themselves friendless. Recall pre 70's USA!
