Authors on the Air host Pam Stack welcome award-winning and best-selling thriller novelist T. Jefferson Parker.  About Jeff:  T. Jefferson Parker was born in Los Angeles and has lived his life in Southern California.  He is the author of twenty crime novels, including the Edgar-winning “Silent Joe,” and “California Girl.”  His last six books feature ATF agent Charlie Hood, who does battle with Mexican drug cartels along the US/Mexico border.  Parker’s stories usually pit an upright and sympathetic hero against amoral villains but he is careful to find the flaws heros and the virtues that some outlaws own.  In the Charlie Hood books, Charlie is constantly outnumbered and often outgunned, so his position is that of underdog.  He is part of a bureaucracy that comes to not value him, so he’s literally caught between hateful enemies and unloving “friends.”  He alone in the six-book series comes to understand who his real nemesis is – a devil in human form who seems destined to pursue Charlie to the gates to Hell.
